Recommended method

1. Convert your music track(s) to MP3 and rename them to the following filenames. Note that they must have the exact filenames listed below!
  • bagood01_t15.mp3
  • r_livingworld101.mp3
  • r_livingworld102.mp3
  • r_livingworld104.mp3
  • r_livingworld105.mp3
  • r_livingworld106.mp3
Note that r_livingworld103.mp3 is not on this list.

2. Create a new folder in your user directory. For the purposes of this tutorial, I will name my folder music.
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Application Data\My The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king Files
  • Windows Vista and higher: C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\My The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king Files

3. Create the following folders, each inside the folder that was created before it.
  • data
  • audio
  • tracks
When you are finished, your directory structure should look like this:
My The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king Files\[the folder name from step 2]\data\audio\tracks

4. Put your renamed MP3s into the tracks folder.

5. Copy your game shortcut, appending “ -mod [the folder name from step 2]” to the Target field:

6. Using the new shortcut, fire up the game and watch a replay!

NOTES:
  • All examples use RotWk, but the procedure is equally valid for BfMe II.
  • I think this is also the music that plays when you are observing a multiplayer skirmish.
  • It is possible to add and/or remove MP3s (except the currently-playing track) to change the background music mid-replay!
  • Empty files with the filenames listed above can be used to limit the background music (or to remove it entirely).
  • Savvy modders will note that it is possible to modify the track lineup — notably, to increase the track listing — by editing LivingWorldMusic in data\ini\music.ini (see here for a tutorial). I do not know how editing this file affects multiplayer gameplay.
