Hello everybody, I've started this topic to house pictures and descriptions of the completed skirmish maps I've created for a map pack that consists of seven entirely new maps.

The map pack is now available to download here http://www.the3rdage...m-768?visible=1

Credit to "The Dwarf Holds", "The Elven Alliance Community Edition" and "Shadow and flame" mods all of which I have used in the screenshots below.

Some really nice skirmish maps. You are certainly one of the great BfMEI mappers. I can't think of a new name for Mittalmar off the top of my head (where is that name from, by the way, and what does it mean?).

Mittalmar's the central region of Numenor, in which Meneltarma lies.

Well, then in all cases I really like that name. :)

Thanks for the compliments guys I really appreciate it, so I suppose I'll leave Mittalmar as it is seeing as nobody minds the name.

If it was originally intended to be Mittalmar then I think it is best. :)

Looks pretty nice, I really like how the tower is set up. My critique is that the roads are too blended into the landscape, so you can barely see where they are. Another one is that the cliffs are too bright. The camp area doesn't look like it's used, so maybe rough it up a bit. And Andrast looks like it has two different terrain types, like they were miles apart.

Thanks Lauri I'll correct those few minor details but as for Andrast's textures I don't think the photos do it justice, I'll see if I can get a few more photo's of how the beach blends into the the more grassy land above and hopefully that'll make things seem more normal.

That would be great. I don't know if your idea is that the tide could bring the water up across the sandy area, but I don't think the bench with tables would be there then, or the trees would be so "normal". Disclaimer; I don't know how the area would function in IRL if that is indeed your plan, but something seems out of place..

I also noticed that, on Andrast, the riverbanks could use a bit more life and lush terrain.

Sorry for the late reply Lauri but I'm still working on that map. In the meantime here's my latest map that needs naming, I'm having no luck with the Tolkien maps I've looked at.

Try somewhere in the North of Middle Earth, to me it looks akin to somewhere in Arnor. Or possibly one of the Fiefdoms of Gondor.

I've taken another look and what about "Calembel," acording to the description "It was a city of Gondor and the capital of the province of Lamedon. It was situated on a small hill along the river Ciril and a major road that led into Southern Gondor." That sounds pretty close to me but what do you guys think?

I think that is great, I've been thinking about your map in my spare time today, and I considered that it could be a town in the Fiefdoms of Gondor.

I like Calembel.

And as a bit of lore.

Calembel is mentioned as the place that The Grey Company and the Dead camped while the people left in the town fled to the hills.

They passed Tarlang's Neck and came into Lamedon; and the Shadow Host pressed behind them and fear went on before them, until they came to Calembel upon Ciril... The township and the fords of Ciril they found deserted...

Great I'll get a few more photos later and update the main post, as a side note I'd just like to say that lately I've grown more prone to the sort of still water look for my rivers because I got a new computer a little while ago and all the rivers are a solid colour in worldbuilder meaning the edges look terrible and it's quite difficult to gauge where they should be in order to look normal on other peoples machines, hopefully that sentence made sense.

I've updated the top post with a few screenshots I took from a quick game I had a minute ago, this one has turned out to be a lot of fun to make and a welcome break to the difficulties of single player maps.

Not really a fan of the water, but everything else looks fantastic!  I might be spoiled by bfme2's water effects though.
