Version 1.0
This is a special scripted multiplayer Helsm Deep map I made. It is meant for 4 players, 2 versus 2. The players at the top must be Rohan and the players at the bottom must be Isengard. DO NOT CHOOSE A DIFFERENT FACTION!. I have tried as much as I can to make this map like the mission in the campaign. Here is an overview of the features:

  • There are two players in Helms Deep. They each have a citadel (the Helms Deep citadel, not the standard one), and 9 building foundations: 2 behind the deeping wall and 7 in the keep. The player on the left will have Theoden an Eowyn, the player on the right will have Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas (this might seem unfair, but the left player is really better protected). Also, the player on the right will have control over the Tower of Helms Deep, in which is positioned the Horn of Helm Hammerhand. Blow this horn to frighten the Uruks. Rohan can alos use the Farm as a slaugtherhouse. Both Rohan players will get 300 CP.
  • The Isengard players will both start with a citadel and two Uruk Pits, but after a little time they will be given the opportunity to build a camp. Isengard will have a strong advantage in resources and build-time. Both Isengard players will get 600 CP.
  • After 1 minute, elven reinforcements will arrive for Rohan. They can then also build the Elven Barracks.
  • Another minute later, a large army of uruks will arrive, along with Saruman and Lurtz. The Isengard players can then build a camp.
  • After 10 minutes, Isengard will get the possibility to build mines. Another 10 minutes later, they will be able to build Ballistas.
  • The spells have been shuffled around a bit. For Rohan, Army of the Dead has been replaced by Ents, and to fill up the empty spot I have put in Elven Gifts. To replace the Balrog, Freezing Rain is now Isengards ultimate power. I have also given Isengard Call the Horde, which will give it 300 command points extra.
  • 30 minutes after the game starts, Gandalf and Eomer will arrive with their Rohirrim. Isengard must try to take Helms Deep before that moment, because the Rohirrim are invincible, and Gandalf has many Words of Power.

Disabled in this map:

  • For rohan: Well (there are some in Helms Deep already), heroic statue (the same situation), Stables (you will get 2 battalions of rohirrim at the beginning), Merry
  • For Isengard: Wargs
  • Nobody will get Flaming Arrows, for those would make defending Helms Deep too easy.

Last time I checked, it was one of the most played Helms Deep maps online.

Version 1.1
This version has lots of updates, making it even more special and cinematic. It also comes with it an installer. Unfortunately it often causes out-of-sync errors. If you find a solution, please let me know.

Rohan:

  • Helms Deep is divided in two parts. The part on the left is called The Deeping and is where player 3 has his base. In it are 8 building plots and a citadel. The keep from the first version is removed.
  • The part on the right is called The Hornburg and is where player 4 has his base. The Hornburg consists of an outside part (which has 2 plots) and an inside part (which has 5 plots and a citadel). The wall of the inside part is now properly walkable.
  • Rohan's Citadels are garrissonable by up to 3 battalions.
  • Rohan players both get 200 command points available
  • Rohan players can build peasants, yeomen and elves. Both players get 2 battalions of rohirrim at the start of the game.
  • Player 3 will control Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli
  • Player 4 will control Theoden and Eowyn
  • Aragorn will not be able to summon the Army of the Dead
  • Eowyn will be able to mount at level 1, even without patch 1.03
  • Army of the Dead has been disabled, and to fill in an open space Rohan will be able to buy Elven Gifts
  • Anduril has been renamed Swords of the Kings and applies to Theoden as well as Aragorn
  • Cloud Break has been renamed The Horn of Helm Hammerhand and has been given a new sound effect, but it's effect is the same.
  • Troops can be sold by sending them into one of your farms.

Isengard:

  • Isengard players both have a base at the bottom of the map. These are standard Isengard castles with 9 plots each.
  • Isengard players both begin with 400 commaind points available
  • Isengard players can build everything except Warg Riders.
  • Player 1, on the left, will get Lurtz
  • Player 2, on the right, will get Saruman
  • Player 1 will be able to build Mines and Siege Ladders
  • Player 2 will be able to build Battering Rams and Ballistas
  • The Balrog has been disabled. To fill the space I have given Isengard a new Call the Horde power, which will provide it with 200 extra available command points when bought. Scavenger has replaced Palantir Vision

General:

  • Various player-specific sounds have been added, such as Legolas and Gimli counting and an Uruk Officer urging his troops forward.
  • Flaming Arrows have been disabled for all players (so watch out for Ents)

Timeline:

  • -2:00 - The game begins
  • -1:00 - Elven allies arrive to help Rohan
  • 0:00 - The Army of Isengard arrives and builds a base
  • 15:00 - Mines and Ballistas are enabled for Isengard
  • 30:00 - Gandalf and Eomer arrive with an invincible army of Rohirrim. This means GAME OVER for Isengard

Very clever touches! The flaming arrows were a little annoying before, not anymore! Overall, best BFME1 map out there!

I put the isengard armies on hard and all they so is send all their uruks just out of bow shot and they wait there. They don't use the ladders or mines or ballistas.

Too bad that I spent a month on 1.01, only to find out that it Out-of-Syncs <_<

I played a game of 1.0, far more enjoyable than EA's where flaming arrows make up for 90% of the job :)
