Now you can delete that animated model's group. We dont need it anymore. From this point we are goint to animate from scratch.

I want the Ranger to sit down on the floor. First you need to know how long it takes to sit down cause if you make it to quick or to slow it will look bad. But it isnt that big problem if you have your max file cause there is rescale thigy that allows you to compress or prolong your anim. I belive that it should be sligtly less then 2 seconds so i will use 50 frames for that. With Autokey on i move to the frame no. 50 and start posing the model. I start with body, then legs and arms on the end.

Don't forget the right procedure. Pose the end of the limb first then rotate in with use of the bigger circle and then fix elbow/knee by moving the smaller circle. You will probably need to add more keyframes for those knee/elbow controlers.

That is good pose for sitting except the fact that the sheat is under floor. So i will fix it by rotating the sheatbone.

So we have starting and ending pose of our anim. You can even watch him how he sits down, but the anims as it is now is bad. There are several problems. Just like leg move while is sitting down. That isnt possible in real life. We need to fix that. Move to the frame 30 and using while holding shift drage the keyframe for selected circle on the timslider. That will copy the keyframe so that you can place it anywhere you want. Copy the keyframes from frame 50 to frame 30 for all 3 bones that controls body. So he will sit in 1 second and have 20 secodns to adjust the pose. That is exactly what we need. But i want his head to be rotating between 1st and 50th frame not the 30th. So i will select the circle that belongs to that bone and right click on that frame and delete rotation on that key frame. You can see that on the image below.
