Now that you have created a Housecolor texture, implementing it into your mod is simple. The only file needed is data/ini/housecolor.ini This file is simple to edit, just copy one of the other entries and alter the base and house texture names to your new ones. Creating an entry in this file affects all models that use that particular texture, so no unit-specific coding is needed. That's pretty much it from me. This was just a relatively simple example, but the basic principles are the same for any texture. You just need to decide which selection you want to make, and then make it by whatever technique you find to be the best. Often you will need to make multiple selections. For units that have separate textures for Heavy Armor upgrade, additional Housecolor textures are needed. Often, the parts that you want to change colour will be similar if not the same, so you can sometimes use the same Housecolor texture or alter it slightly. Nertea (Team Chamber Member) - Monday May 11, 2009 - 12:10 Damn, this is so cool :D. Putting team colour in sensible places makes it actually work! EggyDan - Monday December 15, 2008 - 13:31 Good point, difficulty rating changed. Thanks for the praise! Sulherokhh (Team Chamber Member) - Monday December 15, 2008 - 12:46 Good, clearly structured, easy to understand and to put to use. I think you could even rate it as level 1 since it doesn't require a lot of prerequisite knowledge of modding apart from the stuff everyone needs. |
